This has been a transient year in many ways. One literal exemplification of transitions has been the travel. In January, we went to Wisconsin and, in March, to Florida on vacation. In between, we took short road trips to Michigan and Indiana.
Since Constance’s passing, I’ve gone to Indiana, Monterey, California, Tennessee, and England. This weekend, I’m going to the OC California.
My adventures are a palatable distraction. Like gas, I will inevitably run out of savings. Then I’ll have to find a new way to pacify myself. In the meantime, I’m off to make strangers cry, as you do. I always look for those people whose disposition shows by the smile worn permanently jack-o-lantern onto their face. If you’re lucky enough to smile through a long life, I want to hear your story. I’ll try not to burden everyone with mine.
