Day 248

There was a big first snow in Chicago today. The ground and trees were covered. I remembered Constance playing on the sledding hill. She liked being pulled in the sled rather than riding in or walking through the thick piles.

For her, sledding was one of those things from a far gone generation that just didn’t hold the same shine as swimming or playing with her iPad. With the same indifference in which she rejected an Etch A Sketch, she declined sledding. Still, thinking of her in the snow made me smile and cry simultaneously. I am happy to have the memories but sad we won't be making any more.
