Day 130

To distract my mind, I decided to watch Hulu. I’ve been into the show, The Handmaid’s Tale. The classic book left big shoes that the Hulu show has been able to fill. Most people see it as a story of authoritarian fascism and misogyny. I do too. I also see the horrible things people will do to have and protect babies.

I received a thoughtful note from a dad who lost his son. He found the blog through a friend of a friend. To summarize our mutual sentiment, "this is terrible."

It’s common when testing a person’s anti-death penalty position to ask, “What if they killed your child?” The implication is that the apex crime is the loss of a child—the ultimate reason for vengeance, harm to your future, your family. I wonder what one does when there is only an absentee and taciturn god or an apathetic universe to blame.
