Day 196

My aftercare instructions from the hospital included that I should see Dr. Later, their headache expert, this week. My head had been incredibly painful all day. The moment it let up, I called his office.

I was on hold for a long time while the receptionist attempted to read the 50 or so pages of my discharge notes. He then returned and said, “Yes, Ms. Jervis. Dr. Later’s first available appointment is on December 31st.” I literally laughed out loud. The receptionist said, “Ms. Jervis?” and then hung up. It was the hardest I laughed all day.

More people should really go into neurology. It seems to be an understaffed department. I think I’m going to tweet that at my high school guidance counselor; there’s no way that could backfire.
